Salam Everyone,
It has been a while since I have posted but I have been very busy with school and work. I will be visiting Stuttgart, Germany for 17 days in May '08 on business. I would like to meet up with any Pencak Silat teachers that you guys might know in that area. I believe Eric B. is in the Netherlands and I might be able to make it out there. I also plan on visiting my friend Eric Chatelier in France. Please let me know of any teachers you might know in that part of Europe.

I have always wanted to visit the Netherlands. Eric B. is there a train that can get me out there quickly from Stuttgart? 500km is only around 300 miles or about 4 hours by car - correct? I will check about Kuln as well.

Nicholas, if you take a train to the Netherland (Eric Hometown) your train will pass Bonn / Cologne, So you have an opportunity to visit us in Bonn/Cologne.
If I'm not mistaken, Eric is living near Eindhoven, about 150km away from Bonn/Cologne, is it correct Eric?

In Germany you can contact the PGB Bangau Putih school through Mr. D. Lokatis, his public email is : VorstandMPP@silat.de . You can also contact Mr. W. Hollenbach, his public email is : CheftrainerMPP@silat.de ... Mr. Lokatis is the chief representative of PGB in Europe.
And if you get to meet the German-PGB crew, give my warm regards to Tine and Waruni Sabur. I used to look after Waruni when she was a baby but she must be in her 20s now.

you are welcome in Cologne. As I just recently learned to know that Mas Chandrasa is living in our city as well, this could be a nice meeting. I'll ask Hiltrud Cordes and Mas Yoko Suseno to join us. Just give me your arrival dates about 4 weeks in advance, Hilli and myself are freelancers. So we might be able to schedule a date in time.
After that, you take the Intercity Express train and will arrive in 2,5 hours in Amsterdam (NL), the capital of European Kebudayaan Pencak Silat. EricB will be the "tuan rumah" there ;)
The Cologne/River Rhine community is very small compared to that of Amsterdam, but you might enjoy a stay with us here, too. By the way: Are you somehow related to Eduardo St. Panduko from Bukittinggi, West Sumatra?

I appreciate all your help. It is great to see such a large community of Silat players come together. I should be in Stuttgart May 11th but I wouldn't be able to travel to the Netherlands until that following weekend which is May 16th -18th. I will probably be leaving Germany on May 24th or 25th. Unfortunately I have no "direct" family relation to anyone in Indonesia. Although I like to think of all of my teachers and friends in Indonesia as family members. I will keep you guys up to date on my trip. Do you guys know Eric Chatelier of AFPS? I would really like to meet up with him again as well but I don't know if I will have enough time. Please, if you can arrange a meeting on that weekend I would greatly appreciate it.

Well, Eric Chatelier is from Paris, if I am not wrong. That is about 600 km from Cologne. Amsterdam is closer, about 330 km from here. That is no big thing to and fro. Paris is another story ... I doubt he will be able to come over and "mampir di rumah orang saja" - "just pay a visit and say hello".
Anyhow, keep me up to date with your travel plans. You should have a look at the announcement for the "International Paris Open 2008" in march, look here:

I'm living in Eindhoven indeed (actualy Veldhoven, but thats a small city next to Einhoven).
From my place its a little more than an hour drive to cologne.
Maybe we can arrange a kind of meeting somewhere, but my schedule is quite tied, so we have to pick a day, in order to synchronize agenda's
Also I know Eric Chatelier very well, he is indeed living in Paris, if you want I can provide you with his E-mail adres

As May gets closer we will have to set up a meeting. I met Eric Chatelier in France 3 years ago. I have his e-mail. I just didn't want to bother him because i know he is busy with the Paris Open. Thank you Eric B. I look forward to meeting you and all the other European Silat Gurus and players.

My travel plans for Germany have changed. It will now be from June 30th-July 14th and I am also trying to take that entire week of the 14th as a vacation so I will have some time to visit with the Silat community in Germany,Netherlands,and maybe Austria. I will keep you posted as my work schedule is finalized. Thank you all for your warm welcome and I hope to be able to spend time with you soon.

Hows about we likewise exchange "jejer Kauman" and "Aufklärung" i.e. by strolling through Merry Old Cologne, having a stop here and there, having a …… [choose: Coke, Mineral Water, or just simply a "Kölsch" beer ::)] ? Would that make sense to both of you ?
May the "Wisdom of the Rice Corn" (= Ilmu Padi) be enlarged by the "Wisdom of the Hop Blossom" (= basic ingredient of beer), or with whatever you like ... [top]

I will be staying in Stuttgart but the weekend of July 12th I plan on traveling to Amsterdam (either by train or car) and stopping in Koln. It would be great to meet with you both (Uwe and Bram) and any other Silat players in the Koln area. I have never been to Germany but I heard it is an amazing place.

Salam Everyone,
My trip details are finalized [top] I will be in Stuttgart from Sunday July 6th to Wednesday July 23rd 2008. I would be honored to meet as many Silat players and teachers as possible within this time frame. I have a rental car but I am still not sure if I want to drive to Koln/Amsterdam or take a train. I actually have two weekends when I can travel (long distance) July 11-13 most likely Koln/Amsterdam and July 18-20 most likely go to Paris to visit Eric Chatlier. Please let me know if any Silat players are close to Stuttgart that I can work out with during the week.
