SundaWarrior:
Salam Everyone,
Here is a group photo taken at the Harimau Minang Seminar I hosted this past weekend in Florida, USA. Hope you enjoy. By the way, who is that incredibly handsome guy on the far the bottom right? ;D
AbdUllah:

Assalamua'laikum and peace to all,
Was there any stark differences between Harimau Pasaman and Harimau Hanafi??
I would like to give a suggestion brother SundaWarrior. Why not in the next Harimau Seminar, you extend your invitation to Silat Gayong USA?
FYI, Silat Seni Gayong Malaysia/Gayong USA was previously known as Silat Sendi Harimau ('sendi' means limbs). Even today, most of their techniques have Harimau characteristics. For example, the jumping exercises are called Harimau Menghambur, the ground fighting is called Gerakan Harimau and in the later stages of the art, you will learn Seni Belian, where you will be taught how to shred your opponents body like the manner of a tiger shredding its prey.
You can contact them at their Illinois branch at

Salam Everyone,
AbdUllah,
The seminar went well atound 12 people showed up each day and
I was able to make new friends.
Amirulhusnitekpi,
The only major difference I noticed is the Harimau Pasaman system
seems to deflect the incoming attack across center line and move
to the outside more while the Hanafi Harimau likes to open up any
incoming attack and just "unleash the tiger" so to speak.
My hand is always open to any Silat system that wishes to share
their art and culture. The Association of Pencak Silat America is
something i decided the US was in much need for after all the negativity Silat
had been receiving over the last 15 years or so. I believe my teacher
in the US knows Guru Joel Champ of Silat Seni Gayong. The major
problem with bringing anyone to Florida is of course $monetary$.
I would love for the Gayong guys to help me out with the Association.
I just haven't got around to contacting them yet.
Hormat,
Nicholas

Assalamua'laikum and peace to all,
Cik Nicholas (somewhat like 'Mas', Malaysian style, also short form of 'Encik'),
Thanks for the info. I've just visited your website and it looks great!
The current styles affiliated are Baringin Sakti, Inti Ombak, Pertempuran and Perisai Diri right? Any thoughts on extending the list to include Silat Seni Gayong USA, Silat Merpati Putih, Silat Mande Muda, and of course Silat Kuntau Tekpi?
I would love to see all these styles come together in one super-seminar!!
Peace
