Silat weapons in Jakarta?

(1/1)

harimauhk:
Salamat malam,

I'm a student of Minangkabau Harimau and a collector of Indonesian weapons. Anyone have any suggestions on where to get good quality Indonesian weapons in Jakarta? I'd like a badik, rencong aceh, keris and klewang, as well as a good, solid tongkat.

Thanks,

Jay

Greetings Harimauhk,
In Jakarta, you can get some Indonesian traditional weapons in Pasaraya Blok M. In Grand Indonesia's Alun-Alun, you also can get several kerises. If you like to go to traditional market, you can go to Pasar Rawa Bening or Pasar Jatinegara. You will find some kerises, badiks, rencongs, goloks, and some replicas of Dutch saber. If you are lucky, you might get a tongkat made from galih kelor, which considered rare.
In Lapangan Tembak Senayan, you can find Husky's products which made kujangs, belatis, kukris, etc.
All these places are well-known to taxi drivers.

Salam...

Terima kasih Pak! I wish I'd read this post before I went to Jakarta. I did come home with a nice keris, kujang with pamur and a rencong aceh, but I bet I would have found lots of cool stuff in the places you mentioned. Never made it to Pasaraya since I was all the way up in Mangga Dua, but I will definitely head down there next time!
